Chapter 19
“Stop right there”. Cynthia rolled the documents tightly in her hand and tapped them with annoyance on her suited arm. “You really think that’s funny Galileo? Honest to God. People don’t take this shit as a fucking joke, how many times do I have to beat this into your think head.”
She had walked into the design room when I was busy looking at the roles of the psychotherapy and making some alterations to the choices. I tabbed across to the open document Galileo was working on.

The ubiquitous web of interpretation and discovery had yielded a group with a singular purpose. Doctors, theologians and anthropologists numbered greatly in the participants of the ParadiseGrande forum. The main topic of discussion since September twenty-eighth twenty-twenty-three: What is she?
The post started by way of an introduction, its simple phrase enough to capture the imaginations of over nine-thousand repliers and twenty-two-thousand viewers. The enigmatic caption, and mystifying post began only with, “I have survived the Paradoxia Demon. She is real”. Beyond that the convoluted expression of a creature both real and artificial that inhabits the cursed hotel and of its fear of the singular resident, Galileo.
It was not long before the mob descended on the OP and demanded whoever he was to be fired from his job instantly. They literally could not believe that he would call this abomination a she, assuming of course it had a gender at all it would most assuredly be male and toxic. They also took great offense to who the creature wa

“You mean thick right.” The magazine struck him a couple of times. “Alright, alright. I don’t see how you hitting me is okay though.”
“Sophie said it was the best way to deal with you and I have her permission to do so.” Cynthia said returning the weapon to both hands where she attempted to undo the curling.
“I’m sure that’s not a legal thing” He said, rubbing down the Alfalfa ridge the blows had constructed in his hair.
I looked at what he’d been writing and laughed. Turning to Galileo, Cynthia caught me with a dead stare before she turned her attentions back to him. I quickly highlighted the whole text and deleted it. I simply typed “What’s She doing?”
“I am the law here Galileo, especially when you’re writing stuff you know a) won’t ever really go in the game and b) if it got leaked you’d have another wave of hate mails” the direction of her head changed but the intimidating consternation of her countenance remained just as chilling.
“Fine. I’d literally just sat down. I’d have “
“Under-fucking-whelming” she said prodding him in the chest. “What’s that mean Alan? Eh, you know what I’m doing.” Cynthia had a way of adopting a Yorkshire up-bringing whenever she was irritable about something.
“I’m talking about She, Cynthia. Rather than have a look from outside and bring a character in, look inside and bring a character out. I mean there’s a lot to She that needs fleshing out. For a start, we might want a better name.”
“Agreed.” Cynthia said instantly.
“Okay, we can change that quick enough. Too bad we already called the AI Cynthia.” He was stung lightly on the side of the head without her even turning. “We also need to look at what actual police use as their numbers, we can’t really use my college ID. People would get a bit pissy about it ruining realism.”
“You mean, you’re pissy about it already” I said. “You’re the one who put it there like four months ago and you’ve still not looked up what a police number is yet.”
“I’ve got better things to do. Cynthia, go find out what a real PC number is? Please.” Galileo tried to give her his most disarming look. Unfortunately, it was always a smirk. She rolled her eyes, tapped him a couple of times on the head and mouthed fuck off you lazy twat.
